Barbara Mae Jones Reece

Barbara Mae Jones Reece, 80, of Gold Hill, NC, passed away, Monday, November 11, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm Thursday, Nov. 14th at Miami Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Robert Howard, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Reece family will begin receiving at 12 noon prior to the service.

Mrs. Jones was born September 7, 1939 in Rutherford County, daughter of the late Birdie Jones and Odessa Wilson Jones. She was a member of Miami Baptist Church. She worked in local hosiery mills for many years and later worked in public schools in the cafeteria and Cabarrus County Kids Plus where she was affectionately known as Maw-Maw Barbara. She also enjoyed baking and was a great cake decorator. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Reece, Jr.; brothers, Burton, George, Gene and Luther Jones; sisters, Kathleen Mulligan, Thelma Van Dyke and Helen Ballard.

She is survived by her children, Greg Reece, Sr. (Teresa), Bryon Reece (Terrie), Ronald Reece (Joannie), Richard Reece and Dianna Reece; brother, Blaine Jones; grandchildren, Susan Reece, Gregory Reece, Jr. (Shannon), Phillip Reece, Deanna Newsome and Megan Vinsant; great grandchildren, Skylar, Layla, Taylor and Gregory Reece, III.

The family would like to give special thanks to Joy Branscum of Rockwell for her care of Barbara.
