Barbara Rimer Lewis

Mrs. Barbara L. Rimer Lewis, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, 79, of Governor's Pointe Court, Concord, NC and long-time Mount Pleasant resident, got her Heavenly wings on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at home surrounded by family after a period of declining health. An open receiving of friends will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant followed by a memorial service, officiated by Pastor Perry Hines, at 3:00 pm. The burial will be afterwards at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

Her favorite thing to do was to play bingo (anywhere) and she also enjoyed visiting the casinos in Las Vegas. She wasn’t a big gambler, but she played video poker with gusto. Barbara was also very artistic and loved to draw, paint and write poetry. She was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church in Concord.

Barbara was born on October 22, 1943, in Panama City, Florida, and was the daughter of the late Edna and W.D. Laramore, Sr.  She married the love of her life, Glenn Rimer, Jr., on her 18^th birthday and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his passing in August 2009. Also preceding her in death was husband of six months, Richard Lewis of Concord. brothers, Wayne Laramore and Ronald Laramore and sisters LaVerne Laramore Olsen, Sharon Laramore Gunter and Sandra Laramore Blount.

She is survived by her son, Barry G. Rimer, of Concord and daughter, Pamela Rimer Sossamon (Rob), of Concord; brother, WD (Billy) Laramore, Jr.  (Ruth), of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Amanda Rimer, Valarie Rimer, Alana Sossamon Malechuk (Danny), and Megan Sossamon Fontain (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Anna and John Paul Malechuk and Sarah Fontain due in late July 2023, and numerous deeply loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
