Arnold W. Ellington, 84 of Rockwell passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at his home.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm Wednesday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, the family will receive friends from 12-1:30 prior to the funeral service.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors. The Patriot Guard will provide escort to the cemetery.
Mr. Ellington was born August 25, 1930 in Cabarrus County son of the late Aurelius L. Ellington and Addie Wilson Ellington. He proudly served and retired from the US Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his retirement from the military he worked for Fieldcrest Cannon. He was a farmer at heart; he loved farming and his vegetable garden. Mr Ellington was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis B. Ellington, sister, Pat Swaringen, brothers, Everett, Clifford and Carl
Survivors include four children Tonda Childers and husband Terry of Kannapolis; Michael Ellington and wife Aida of Jacksonville Fla; Kathy Lee of Concord; Lori Carroll and husband Jeff of Rockwell. Grandchildren are Jason Childers, Jeremy Childers, Justin Lee, Michael Ellington Jr., Nicole Dysart, Hayden Carroll, Hunter Carroll; great-grandchildren Olivia Moore, Graham Childers, Abigail Dysart; brothers, Roy Ellington and wife Shirley and Troy Ellington and wife Betty; sister Rachel Fullham and sister in law, Elsie Ellington.
