Mrs. Ann Hopkins Ensley, 82 of Mt. Pleasant, entered into her eternal home on Friday, January 11, 2019 at her residence.
Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson.
The Ensley family will receive friends from 5-8pm Monday evening at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Ann was born January 10, 1937 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Frank and Christine Eudy Hopkins. She received her Business Degree from Pfeiffer College. She was employed as a secretary with the Mt. Pleasant area schools and later was administrative assistant to the Superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools. As a lover of music, she was organist and pianist at churches in the Mt. Pleasant area and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting for family and friends. Ann also enjoyed spending time at her vacation home at Holden Beach. Her favorite pastime was being with family and especially children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by a son James Barry Ensley and her husband of 61 years, James Leon Ensley.
She is survived by daughter, Beth Downs and husband Mike, grandchildren, Erin Everett (Tim), Grayson Downs (Jessica), Ethan Ensley and fiancée, Grace Clayton, Marie Burris (Seth), great grandchildren, Talyn Phillips, Braylyn Phillips, Austyn Burris, Jaxon Yow, Holden Downs, sister, Etta Rowland (Ken) and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff members of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and Home Instead Senior Care during Ann’s declining health.
