Alton Lee Hammill, 63, of Gold Hill, died at his home Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.
A celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 3401 Bethlehem Church Road in Gold Hill, where he was a life-long member. The Rev. Beverly M. Maulden will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gordon Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
A Cabarrus County native and life-long resident, Alton was born August, 19, 1953, to Billy Hammill and Elizabeth Williams Hammill. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Joe Hammill. He was a construction supervisor for BRS Construction in Richfield, NC, where he had worked for more than 40 years.
In addition to his mother, Elizabeth W. Hammill, Alton is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janis Raymer Hammill of the home; one son, Rodney Hammill of Gold Hill; Rodney's children, Cody and Daymon; two daughters, Aimee P. Jordan (Doug) of Pembroke Pines, FL, Aimee's children, Cameron, Zachary, Kirstie and Kayla Jordan, and Afton H. Davis (Sean) of Salisbury, Afton's children, Ashton Hammill, Savannah, Hunter and Jackson Bean, and four brothers; Kelly Hammill, Larry Hammill, Barry Hammill and David Hammill, and one sister, Libby H. Flowers, all of Gold Hill.
