Addie Sue Ritchie

Mrs. Sue Harwood Ritchie, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at Brookdale of South Concord. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Sunday, March 8, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Mark Ericson, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Ritchie family will receive friends from 4-5pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Ritchie was born August 21, 1934 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late Hugh Samuel Harwood and Mildred Elaine Odell Harwood. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd K. Ritchie. Sue's greatest love and pride was in her family. Nothing made her happier than to be visiting with and caring for her family. Not only was she a loving Mother to her family but also to countless children that she cared for in her home daycare. She loved these children as if they were her own and made a lasting mark on their lives. Sue is known throughout Fort Walton Beach, FL, her home for over 40 years, for her love, hospitality and incredible Southern cooking. She is survived by daughters, Jacquelyn Hall and her husband David, Reba Brown, Meredith Jones, son Lloyd Ritchie, Jr. and his wife Diane, grandchildren Bryan and wife Anna, Justin and wife Annie, Captain Jonathan Brown and wife Jennifer, Captain Jennifer Brown, Jacki Brown, Whitney Hester and husband Rodney, Vanessa Ritchie and Rebekah Ritchie, great grandchildren, Ella, Madelyn, Aidan, Ethan, Tyler and Amelia Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Betty & Foy Ritchie Playschool Scholarship 100 St. John's Church Rd., Concord, NC 28025 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
