Mary Lassiter

Mary Anna Miller Lassiter, 70, of Duchess Dr., Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at her residence. Funeral service will be 11:00am Monday, January 31, 2011 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Wilson; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Lassiter family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday afternoon at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Lassiter was born November 4, 1940 in Orange County, NC daughter of the late Jesse Laws Miller and Myrtle Roberts Miller. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959 and Pfeiffer University in 1963. She retired from Mt. Pleasant High School after 31 years of teaching, she coached various sports and mentored many students throughout her many years of teaching. A passion for the Lord, she served Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and the community for many years. Her service included Meals on Wheels, various leadership roles in church and helped establish the Mt. Pleasant Food Ministry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Donie Miller and a sister Joyce Miller Whittington. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Harry M. Lassiter one son David Lassiter of Edmonton, KY, sister Faye Metcaf(Jack) of Mebane, brothers, Robert Miller (Belinda) and Gabe Miller both of Mebane and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love, support and excellent care provided during her illness.
