Dean Yount Bowers

Willa Dean Yount Bowers passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 in her home with her daughter by her side. Dean is survived by her husband Terry Bowers; daughters Brandi Doty (Scott) and Shanna Beiring (Eric); stepdaughter Leslie Mathews (Jason); grandchildren Brendan, Jonas, Jordyn, Devin, McNeil and Dawson; brothers Tim Yount and William Yount. Dean was born July 1, 1950, the oldest daughter of Hal and Billie Yount of Granite Falls NC. A graduate of Granite Falls High School, Dean attended Appalachian State University before taking a job with UPS. She would retire from UPS after 35 years of service. She enjoyed taking beach trips, taking care of her flowers in the summer, playing rummy and poker, and working puzzles. She loved Elvis, oldies-but-goodies, and watching crime shows. Dean will mostly be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother, a good friend to all who knew her, and a fierce card player. Dean’s wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes scattered in the ocean. A time of remembrance will be held Thursday January 28, from 1pm -4pm at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant for those who wish to sign the register book. A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to gather again. Memorials in Dean’s honor can be made to any local animal shelter.
